Adult Classes at Sendokan Dojo
We have a strong representation at the dojo of Aikidoka of multiple genders, who are in active attendance from the ages of 14 – 60 and up. Yoshinkan Aikido is well suited for all ages and genders as it requires little strength to effectively execute.
There are several different kinds of class at the dojo that are included in the regular monthly membership dues.
Regular Adult Class
Regular class includes a continual training building on the knowledge of previous classes. Our dojo takes special care in providing consistent training methodologies from instructor to instructor. All our instructors have completed or are in the process of completing their special instructors training at the dojo. Under the tutelage of our chief instructor, a system of training is being imparted down the ranks ensuring that students receive consistent and comprehensive instruction.
Practical Applications Class
This is not so much a class as it is a segment of training which occurs usually at the end of every adult class. Students are given the opportunity to practice practical applications with a focus on sudden control techniques designed to end an encounter in the opening seconds. Applying knowledge of the Kihon Waza (basic techniques) our teachers provide insight into how to execute advanced versions of the techniques designed for street defence or tight spaces.
Kenshu Class
Those who have attained 5th Kyu and up will be training together working at breaking down the working parts of techniques and practicing on the details. A junior student will continue to work on basics and develop competencies in many aspects of Yoshinkan aikido until they are ready for the kenshu environment.
This is not to be confused with Senshusei Kenshu which is a by invitation only and paid for program.
